Realizing the Vision for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital
Throughout its history, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has progressively responded to the public healthcare needs of the residents of Gallatin Valley and beyond. Regional population growth and the inevitable need to stay current in a rapidly changing healthcare environment have become critical issues for the Emergency Department, which has outgrown its current space. Last updated in 1999 to a 10-bed facility designed to care for 15,000 patients per year, the current ER had nearly 23,000 patients walk through the doors in 2010 and that number is projected to rise in the coming years. During high volume times, patients often receive medical care in the hallways of the department because all the rooms are occupied and those who have a room are often displaced to accommodate newly arriving, more critical patients.
To meet emergency medicine needs, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has initiated a $15 million project to renovate and expand the Emergency Department. The new 26-bed facility will provide enormous benefits for both those who receive and provide emergent care. The larger area will offer appropriate space for advanced services, bigger rooms for modern beds and technology, and increased efficiency.
To fund this critical project, Bozeman Deaconess Foundation, has embarked on the largest capital campaign in its history. The Cornerstone Campaign - Realizing the vision for Bozeman Deaconess Hospital, has achieved unprecedented success and is within $400,000 of its $9 million goal. Philanthropic support has been received from all areas of the community - individuals, corporations, foundations, as well as, those closest to the hospital, doctors, nurses, administration, employees and board members of both the hospital and the foundation.
