Hippocrates - c.640-c.377 B.C. Hippocrates, a Greek physician, is recognized as the Father of Medicine. He was the first healer to separate medicine from superstition and philosophic speculation. By so doing he established the foundation for the scientific basis of medical practice. He founded a medical school and developed an Oath of Medical Ethics for physicians to follow.
